Rakai murder suspect out on police bond

Rakai. A suspect in a recent murder case of Pastor Godfrey Mutegeki of Kasensero Pentecostal Church, has been released on police bond.
Mr Maurice Niyonzima, the head of operations at Rakai Police Station, confirmed Ibrahim Mbosi’s release and said they could not release him within the mandated 24 hours due to the sensitivity of the case.

He said preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was not in Kasensero at the time Mutegeki was killed.
Mutegeki, a senior pastor and resident of Kagera Zone in Kasensero Town, was murdered a couple of weeks ago at Kasensero landing site. His body was driven miles away before it was dumped in a thicket at Rwentulege village in Kakuuto County.

Constitutional right
Mr Francis Ssekiwunga, the Kasensero-Kagera LCI chairman, said releasing the suspect is a constitutional right and urged residents not to attack him since police are still investigating the matter.
