Sironko. Budadiri West Member of Parliament Nathan Nandala Mafabi has started a door-to-door campaign, vowing the NRM will be defeated in Sironko District and the entire Mt Elgon sub-region in the coming elections.
Mr Mafabi, who doubles as FDC secretary general, is facing NRM’s new entrant Hosea Wambaka in the parliamentary race.
Mr Mafabi moved through the sub-counties of Buwalasi, Bukiyi and Bukhulo on foot, accompanied by his supporters, who occasionally carried him on their shoulders, before he addressed a rally at Bukhulo Primary School on Tuesday, promising to defeat President Museveni and his NRM again in Sironko District.
His manifesto highlights reforms in the system of governance, fighting corruption, health, education, human rights, agriculture, rule of law and resolving the issue of sharing national resources equitably.
Mr Mafabi, who received 33 NRM supporters crossing to FDC, advised voters in the constituency to shun exchanging gifts and money for votes.
Mr Mafabi, who has represented Budadiri West for three terms, said he will provide basic agricultural inputs to boost farming as the backbone of the economy and that as chairman of Bugisu Cooperative Union, he will provide hoes to every family to enable people engage in agriculture for both consumption and the market.
