In Summary

Guide. Many Ugandans are eagerly waiting to go to different spots to usher in 2016. When it clocks midnight, the skies will be lit with a spectacular display of fireworks at various venues in the city. Below are some of the places to visit.

THE KAMPALA HILTON HOTEL: The Kampala Hilton Hotel will be opened tonight to the general public and what better way to do it than sending spectacular cracks of fireworks to illuminate the New Year’s eve dinner! This will be served together with performances from Myko Ouma, Naava Grey, Swahili Nation, and a surprise guest artiste. Entrance is Shs15,000 which also comes with a Smirnoff Guarana drink. Gates will open at 8pm.

SHERATON KAMPALA HOTEL: Like it has always been in the past years, the Sheraton Kampala Hotel will use its superior central location to have a more distinct display of what can best be described as the biggest fireworks display in Kampala at midnight. This is a party with a long list of entertainers. It will feature Ugandan artistes Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleon, Bobi Wine, David Lutalo, Juliana, Iryn Namubiru, Winnie Nwagi, Gravity Omutujju, Sheeba, Pallaso, King Saha and Irene Ntale at between Shs10,000 and Shs50,000.

GARDEN CITY ROOFTOP: Considered one of the busiest malls in Uganda, Garden City will also display fireworks to usher in the New Year and party goers, like it has always been, will have to walk to this venue as traffic is always heavy on that road.
ACACIA MALL: Acacia Mall will not miss out on the fireworks display and those residing in surrounding areas of Kamwokya, Kololo and Mulago will watch them. However, no communication has been given about artiste entertainment.

ENKUUKA YO’MWAKA: Lubiri, Mengo, is the place to be tonight for the annual Enkuuka Yo’mwaka as Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ushers his subjects into the New Year. Entry fee is Shs10,000. There will also be performances by Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleon, Da new Eagles, Bebe Cool and David Lutalo, among others.
GOLF COURSE HOTEL: Golf Course Hotel is also known to display fireworks and has been doing this for some years now. Theirs come a few minutes after Sheraton, so revellers have a chance to watch both from every angle in the city due to its strategic location.

PASSOVER AT NAMBOOLE: Every New Year eve, Pastor Sserwada of Victoria Christian Centre holds a prayer night at Namboole Stadium and this year is no exception. The 14th Passover festival is happening tonight and if you want to enter the New Year purified, then Namboole is the place to be.
Other places to watch fireworks are Village Mall, Hotel Africana and Kololo Independence Grounds.
