Leaders want action against medical workers

Kabarole. Kabarole District leaders want government to take action against medical workers at Fort Portal Regional Hospital who are suspected to have neglected an expectant mother who eventually died.

District councillors, led by Mr Joram Bintamanya, have asked the district speaker
Mr Clovis Mugabo to convene a council meeting to resolve on measures to be taken to curb the increasing death of expectant.
This follows an incident in which Harriet Mbabazi, 28, a resident of Magunga village in Mugusu Sub-county, died in labour last Tuesday.
During her burial on Wednesday, mourners accused medics of mistreating and neglecting mothers during birth.

Mr Bintamanya said councillors want to pass a resolution calling for disciplinary action to be taken against errant medics at the hospital.
He asked people of Kabarole to always fight for their rights.
Mr Moses Kisembo,a relative to the deceased, said the circumstances of Mbabazi’s death were hurting. He claimed the only nurse in the maternity ward tried to call six doctors to come and operate her in vain.
Burahya County Member of Parliament Steven Kagwera who rushed to the hospital alleged that the administrators were not in office at 4:00pm.
