Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal has dismissed reports he thought of resigning after Manchester United’s defeat to Stoke City. The Dutch man now says he will not resign whatsoever.

United have now gone eight games with no wins and managed to avoid a loss from Chelsea at the Theatre of Dreams last night. However, United fans have witnessed an improved display from their side against Chelsea – who recently sacked their own manager, Jose Mourinho – as they were geared in attack mode.

Van Gaal entered the game with his future in serious doubts as fans are not at all happy with his performance. Yet despite the result being a seventh goalless draw – the sixth at Old Trafford this season – Van Gaal was uplifted by the way his players responded.

After United’s defeat 2-1 against Stoke City, Van Gaal mentioned the possibility of resignation but the manager has since claimed that his comments had been taken out of context saying, “Maybe the media wants that, but I shall not do that.”

Although Van Gaal is concerned that he may be sacked his main concern now is about “preparing the players”.
“For me, the future is not an interesting subject because I cannot have any influence on that, I can only work with my players and you can see they are fighting for me. Even after this result the fans were applauding so I cannot say I’m very much concerned. In this football world you never know but I’m fully confident in the board and my players,” Van Gaal mentioned as he addressed the media.

“Will I resign? On the contrary. When the players can give such a performance with a lot of pressure, there is not any reason to resign for me. Maybe the media wants me to but I shall not resign. It’s not a question of staying. It’s a question of fulfilling my contract.”
