Two Daily Monitor Staff have died while two others seriously injured in a motor accident that occurred along the Mbale-Tirinyi high way in Budaka district.
The deceased; Tonny Kadu, 49, a driver and Daniel Adda from the circulation department died instantly when the Daily Monitor car delivering Newspapers in Mbale and Soroti districts rammed into a stationary Fuso lorry UAM 983C at Nabweyo.
Eye witnesses said it took them more than thirty minutes to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage of the vehicle that was stuck under the truck.
The Budaka district Traffic Officer Anna Illomu attributed the cause of the accident to over speeding and reckless driving by the driver of the Daily Monitor vehicle.
She identified the survivors as Sarah Apio, 26, and 23-year-old Sarah Nafuna, wife to the deceased driver, Kadu. May their souls Rest in eternal peace.
“The Fuso truck carrying bags of Maize was parked at the side of the road after it got a mechanical condition. The person in the Daily Monuitor vehicle was driving a bit faster when he rammed into the truck from behind killing himself and the other person seated close to him,” said Ms Illomu
The survivors were taken to Budaka health centre IV and later transferred to Mbale regional referral where they are nursing injuries.
Meanwhile, the fallen Observer newspaper reporter was on Saturday laid to rest at their ancestral home in Akolodongo cell Malaba town council Tororo district.
Papa Opae Pius, the 26 year old who was a Journalist working with the Observer newspaper died in an accident along Tororo-Malaba High way on Wednesday last week.
Opae, died at Tororo government hospital where he was rushed after a speeding trailer knocked a boda boda motorcycle he was travelling on at Ofinya trading center breaking his spine and left leg.
Two of other persons on the same motorbike including the bodoa cyclist and another passenger got off survived with minor scratches.
May the souls of the deceased rest in eternal peace.
