Anyone found propagating rumours that Kampala city will be a no go area on March 1 will be arrested, police has warned.
In a statement released on Friday, Police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga claims there is a rumour advising people not to come to the city saying there will be chaos.
“As the Uganda Police Force we want to urge members of the public to disregard this rumour. Kampala is safe and peaceful. People who are spreading this rumor want to scare you from doing your normal business,” said Enanga.
This follows messages by some groups of people on social media in which they call upon the public to join them as they march to the electoral commission offices along Jinja road on March 1.
Earlier, government spokesperson Mr Ofwono Opondo also sounded the same warning saying those found spreading such rumours will be arrested and prosecuted.
