Amuru. National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate Michael Nyeko Ocula has refused to concede defeat to his rival FDC’s Gilbert Olanya in the Kilak South Member of Parliament race in Amuru District.

Mr Ocula who crossed from Opposition to NRM, said he will seek redress from court alleging that Mr Olanya, the incumbent Kilak South County MP, intimidated his agents, engaged in voter bribery and ferried locals from outside Kilak Constituency to vote in the constituency.
Last week, Amuru Electoral Commission returning officer Sam Olet declared Mr Olanya as winner for the second term in office after polling 16,983 votes defeating Mr Ocula who garnered 4,279 votes.
Speaking to Daily Monitor at the weekend, Mr Ocula alleged that the polls were rigged. “I have finished my report that I have now sent to my legal team and also my party (NRM). I am not contented with the results,” Mr Ocula said.

When contacted, Mr Olanya counter accused Mr Ocula of hiring a lorry to transport voters to polling stations in Mutema and Lakakang parishes in Amur sub-county adding that he has evidences of the claims. “I am ready with my legal team, let him (Ocula) go to court. I have pictorial evidence showing he hired a lorry to transport locals to vote him”, Mr Olanya said.
The returning officer, Mr Olet told Daily Monitor in a telephone interview that he had not received any complaints from Mr Ocula about his intention to take legal action against the election results.
“If he (Ocula) has the evidence pinning his counterpart, he can go to court. As EC, we shall play our part if we are relevant,” Mr Olet said.

Mr mr Michael Nyeko Ocula, a former FDC strongman and former Kilak County MP in the 7th and 8th parliament crossed to the ruling NRM party in March last year at a function in Amuru District presided over by President Museveni.
