The best way to wear your duster coat

By Hassan Ssentongo

Here are some tips and tricks to best pull off your duster coat;
• For a casual weekend look, pair your crop top with a pair of damaged jeans and a pair of heeled sandals. Keep your duster in brown and grey shades, and keep your top in white or another bright colour.
• Headed to the beach? Pair your cutoff shorts and floral blouse with a duster in a pastel colour.
• For a night time party look on a cold evening in an outdoor setting, wear your favourite party outfit under a duster in a muted colour. The duster’s huge fabric should not swallow up your stylish ensemble underneath, so opt for a muted colour to make it pop.
• Step out in style at work on that rainy morning in a duster over your office dress. Don’t hesitate to keep it on throughout the day, because, great style must be seen. Be sure to watch how you move in this floor grazing coat, you don’t want to stumble and fall, do you?

Duster coat, kaftan and jacket in one

Another trend from the 90s that is making its way back onto the radar is the duster coat. This is a loose lightweight full length coat without buttons with a nearly ground-dusting silhouette.

It typically hits at or around the ankle, and this obviously translates into making you look taller and leaner.

Duster coats are slowly and stylishly becoming every fashionista’s favourite outwear staple. Kampala gets cold lately, so a duster coat can be your way to keep warm but still chic and stylish.

The long and loose overcoat provides more than enough warmth by reaching to at least mid-calf length but manages to remain cool at the same time.

Dusters come in a number of colours and lengths.
From neutrals and prints to big bold colours. There is sure something for everyone. They can be paired with everything from a casual crop top and jeans look to work dresses.
All you do is throw it over your outfit and turn stylish into super cool.
