Do not touch - Life

In Summary

Today it is’ ‘mere’ touching, tomorrow it will be raping and sodomising. If these ‘touchers’ fail to keep their hands to themselves, society may be forced to slash them off on their behalf

I understand why a man would want to touch a woman. We are (for the most part) softer, more pleasing to the touch, fragrant and beautiful. But just like a fragile glass vase displayed behind a glass counter, the rule is LOOK ONLY, DO NOT TOUCH. No one can close your eyes and prevent your eyes from looking, but the minute your grubby hands dart out to touch that which you have no right to, you have crossed a boundary.

There is a breed of men that seems not to understand the invisible, unspoken boundaries of morality and decency that prevent us from plunging into total anarchy. One of these is that a man is not allowed to touch a woman WITHOUT HER EXPRESS PERMISSION.
Pass through Mukwano Arcade downtown and you are unlikely to leave without some stray hands finding their way onto your bottom. This happened to me once, and I felt so violated I could not even speak. I looked behind only to find impassive male faces pretending not to know what had happened. Swallowing my disgust and horror, I moved on- quickly. Apparently, being female and walking through a crowded arcade made me ‘deserve’ to be touched like that. Sorry, not touched, violated.

Pass by any taxi stage where the touts are shouting out their destinations until their voices go hoarse. They will pull your arms, clasp your shoulders, some are even so bold as to grasp your waist, all in the name of boarding their tired vehicles to wherever.
And we have not even mentioned the ‘helpful’ ones who grope your behind as you board their vehicle. It is disgusting, it is unnecessary and it is sexual violation. If you are female and you are reading this, slap away those touching hands. Confront those mannerless idiots and shame them. If you are raising sons, teach them how to respect women’s bodies and model it yourself.
Today it is’ ‘mere’ touching, tomorrow it will be raping and sodomising. If these ‘touchers’ fail to keep their hands to themselves, society may be forced to slash them off on their behalf.
