Scrap Buyers, CKI drop points as Hot Pool stretch lead in league

KAMPALA. It’s just the first round of the Senior Pool Table League and teams are already pulling off shocking wins at the expense of those expected to be in the reckoning for the title at the business end of the season.
The biggest shock over the weekend was Scrap Buyers who suffered a 13-12 reverse at the hands of Mbogo – the latter are rock bottom on the 16-team log.

It was a close game from the onset until the decisive frame, which required the calm head of Mbogo’s Majid Kigunddu to overcome Buyers’ Moses Wasswa. Scarp Buyers consequently won their first game of the season in 11 outings.
Edris Musalwa was Mbogo’s best performer with four wins in his five frames with Sadat Wamala next with three in five.
The loss sees Scrap Buyers drop to third position on 27 points, three behind leaders Hot Pool who defeated Nakawa 19-6.
The loss was Scrap Buyer’s second of the season, their first having come in a 13-12 defeat to CKI.

CKI may have survived with a 13-12 win over T&O Club Klein in Masaka the other weekend but it was a totally different story this time round. They lost to Indigo 14-11 in a contest where star player Sula Matovu was relegated to the bench.
The loss drops CKI to fourth position with 24 points while holders Skin Samona ascended to second after 16-9 win over Anchors. Samona now tally 27 points.
Log leaders Hot Pool continued their dominance with Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumikiriza finding his long lost form in a comfortable win over Nakawa 19-6.
