Tidy your bedroom with a wardrobe

In Summary

If your clothes are either packed in a suitcase or in a basket somewhere in your bedroom, chances are you will forget that you have some of them. However, with a wardrobe, you will be able to see all the clothes, shoes and bags you have with ease as Racheal Irene Nalubega writes.

When you want a place to organise and tidy your clothes from, a wardrobe is that choice of place but some people seem to settle for any type they find or even just buy for the sake of it without putting much thought in what kind of wardrobe they really need.
Wardrobes also known as closets are one of the most important pieces of furniture in your bedroom besides the bed so its significance should often be recognised with some thought in the type that is best suited for your bedroom and just like most furniture, wardrobes to also come in variety.

Free-Standing Wardrobes
This kind of wardrobes is mostly used by people still renting because soon or later they expect to move to another house so this makes it flexible.
And the fact that some land lords build houses with no inbuilt wardrobes, stand-alone wardrobes come in handy.
Eric Muwonge an interior designer at African art décor says free standing wardrobes are mainly designed for single people who do not have to share their wardrobe space with someone else since these wardrobes tend to be short of space.
However, Andrew Tumwesigye, the sales and marketing manager at Nina Interiors ,says stand-alone wardrobes are hard to come by in furniture shops now days because people have embraced in built ones. But a person can still access them on order or going to a carpenter to have one made for you.

Fitted wardrobes
Fitted wardrobes have space shaped within the bedroom wall. These kinds of wardrobes are designed in a way that they are within the room where space is created and wood compartments are fitted.
Though usually they have pull doors fitted, it is wise to use the sliding doors which though not as cheap or easy to replace as standing wardrobes, they make wardrobe access easy and can adjust to limited space in the room. The costs and difficulty of installation is the biggest factor to put most people off. Space in the fitted wardrobes depends on the size of the room it is to be fitted.

Walk in wardrobes
These are the classy, high end, luxury wardrobes that though expensive, they are worth the expenditure.
These wardrobes are usually extra rooms built adjacent to the bedroom. Walk in wardrobes are normally built in the master bedroom because of its extensive size.
For all those who want to include luxury, walk in wardrobes are a way to go. The bigger the room created for them, the bigger the space which means you can go to the length of creating an entire hallway as a wardrobe subsequent to your bedroom.
Walk in wardrobes will not require you to keep a shoe rack because space for shoes and other extra accessories like bags and belts is always available.

Precautions
However, before deciding on that wardrobe, it is wise to first take measurements of the place where the wardrobe will be fitted. Measuring the space will help you not only balance your bedroom space but also have a right compartment fitting. Muwonge warns on home pests like coackroaches, rats and spiders that come with the wood to which he recommends constant fumigation, pest controllers and dry cleaning of wardrobes to ensure that your clothes and bags remain in good shape.
