KALANGALA/ MUBENDE- The NRM vice chairperson for central region, Hajj Abdul Nadduli, has said although he has personal disagreements with President Museveni, this cannot stop him from supporting his bid to retain state power for the next five years.

“I demand a lot from Museveni. I am very angry with him but when it comes to choosing who should steer the country for the next five years, I support him,” he said.

Hajj Nadduli, who is also the Luweero District chairperson, made the remarks while presiding over NRM Liberation Day celebrations at Kibanga Primary School grounds in Kalangala District on Tuesday.

He said his disagreement with President Museveni stems from the latter’s reported delay to help him resolve his longstanding misunderstandings with the proprietor of Kampala University, Prof Badru Kateregga, over the establishment of a university study centre in Luweero District.
Hajj Nadduli insists the land on which the university study centre is currently located, belongs to him but has never been compensated, a claim Prof Kateregga has on several occasions denied.

“As the fountain of honour, I expected him (Museveni) to intervene but he has done nothing up to now despite several petitions,” Hajj Nadduli said.

Background
Hajj Nadduli wanted to start Luweero University in 2001 but failed to secure a provisional licence from the National Council for Higher Education and instead gave administrative powers to Prof Kateregga.

However since then, the two parties have enjoyed a strained relationship with each accusing the other of violating the agreement they signed.

But NRM media specialist Rogers Mulindwa said being a party leader, Hajj Nadduli has chances of meeting the President and present his issues to him rather than discussing them at public functions.
