NTUNGAMO- A driver of the Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ms Justine Mbabazi, has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother.
Ntungamo District police commander Baker Kawonawo said the suspect was arrested on Monday following the suspicious death of his mother, Alice Rwakahirika, at their home in Byarushengye village in Rweikiniro Sub-county, Ntungamo District.
Rwakahirika, who collapsed in the process, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A postmortem report revealed Rwakahirika had a severe heart attack which burst her heart.
The officer in charge of CIID Ntungamo, Mr Bosco Gume, said the suspect is under custody as investigations continue.
Eye witnesses said the fight stemmed from a quarrel over money the family had obtained as compensation from government for encroaching on family land in the on-going construction of Ntungamo Mirama Hills road.
The money, whose amount could not be readily established, had split the family with one group saying it should be shared between family members while another wanted it to be used to build a new family house.
