The Ford Ranger has now become one of the common pick-up trucks on the Road and Roland D. Nasasira reviewed one of them, the Ford Double Cabin WildTrak model 2016.

If you look at the double cabin trucks on the road nowadays, you will realise that the Ford’s presence is hard to ignore.
These trucks are mainly used by government agencies and non-government organisations. One of such vehicles is the Ford Ranger Double Cabin WildTrak.

Interior
Its interior is fitted with leather seats. It was manufactured with both front and side airbags to ensure that the driver and other occupants in the vehicle are well protected in case of an accident.

It also has a telephone configuration with no need of a driver having to touch their phone to answer calls, for as long as the phone is connected with the car telephone configuration system, answering calls is made easier.
The Ford double cabin WildTrak also comes with an interior entertainment system in the form of a CD changer, with stereo speakers all over the car interior.

The customised car logo that is imprinted all over the interior and exterior of the car makes it easy to identify it.
When it rains, the vehicle has automatic windscreen wipers that enable proper visibility of the road by the driver, without having to turn them on.

Ground clearance
It also has a good ground clearance of upto 180 metres high. This is in addition to its alloy wheels and wide automatic headlamps.

It is also manufactured with a hard body underneath so that water does not get into the engine as you drive through flooded areas.

Shutter for rear cabin
It also comes with a roller shutter to cover the rear cabin in case the driver is carrying fragile items in the back.
The rear cabin is made of plastic cargo bed liners that ensure that the car body does not develop scratches.

New Tech
The engine and battery are sealed to ensure that they are protected from damage by water.
It was also manufactured with a modern hill descend control system in that if a driver is going down a very steep slope, the driver will have to press a hill descending button, keep their foot off the pedals and hold the steering wheel strongly to steer well and the car will control itself going down the slope.
The truck was also manufactured with a cruise control system in that if it is set not to be driven beyond a given speed, its internal system will not allow the driver to go past that speed.

“If you want to be driven at 40kmph and the car is set not to go past that speed, it will remain at that same speed,” explains Esther Kinahairwe, the Brand Manager at Cooper Motor Corporation (CMC) in Nakawa.
The vehicle also offers an electronic free on-fly provision of cruising in both two and four wheel drive systems if the driver so wishes.

However, the challenge with this car is its high fuel consumption since it has 3.2 CCs.
