The Parliamentary Appointments Committee headed by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga is today expected to vet and approve the 12 newly appointed justices of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal as mandated by the Constitution.

A fortnight ago, President Musevei appointed seven justices to the Court of Appeal/Constitutional Court and five to the Supreme Court.

Last Friday, the Clerk to Parliament issued a statement to the respective judge, asking them to come for vetting, and that the Speaker had received communication from President Museveni, their appointing authority, to vet them starting at 9am.
The 30-member committee is responsible for vetting and approving Presidential appointees.

Also those to be vetted to fill up the Court of Appeal/Constitutional Court positions include justices Alfonse Owiny Dollo, Elizabeth Musoke, Paul Mugamba, Simon Byabakama, Catherine Bamugemereire, Cheborion Barishaki and Hellen Obura.
The Committee is also expected to vet and approve persons appointed to the Petroleum Authority.
