KAMPALA. The association of retired sportsmen, who represented the country in various disciplines, will tomorrow hold a fund-raising dinner at Hotel Africana aimed at generating funds for a farming project.
The group, according to chairman, Abdulatif Kigonya, was started with the aim of helping the country’s sporting heroes, who are unemployed following retirement.

“Most of our sporting heroes are jobless and the only way to help them is by joining hands in such projects,” Kigonya, a former national swimmer and current chairman of the Swimming Coaches Association, explained.

First mooted in April 2013, the association consists of 82 registered members thus far.
Tickets for the function are going at Shs120,000 per head while a corporate table of 10 people goes for Shs2.5m. They are on sale at the Hotel Africana Health Club.
The association has invited Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, to officiate as chief guest at the dinner.
