For a cozy and personal feel

It is now approaching 10 years since Zone 7 Restaurant first arrived on the scene and from a simple semi private club like venue into a fully fledged establishment that can cater for wedding events as well as receptions for a sizeable number of people while at the same time the place still has a feeling of being cozy and personal.

Background
Set up by Tony Kiyimba Kaggwa who passed on three years ago and Eva his wife, the two were the brains behind this joint and a decade later they are firmly established as a brand. Tuesday, last week I caught up with Eva and over lunch we managed to talk shop while enjoying a leisurely lunch. Admittedly, we have not been to Zone 7 ever since her husband passed on but owing to good planning and sound management nothing seems amiss and they are growing from strength to strength.

Menu offering
Their buffet offers a fair variety starting with steamed matooke, gonja, chapatti, steamed or fried rice, assorted yams, and Irish potatoes, grilled chicken, beef luwombo, fried greens, fried peas and katunkuma. The matooke was exemplary as one might expect and generally we enjoyed the food.
Over the years the pork mchomo at Zone 7 has become a very popular item and such is the demand that occasionally they run out of the stuff. My preference has always been for the ribs which are usually succulent and well-marinated and for an affordable price two can easily feel well satisfied. The samosas are another one of their gems and are to be recommended.

Ambience
When it comes to music and a night out, I’m told Wednesday night at Zone 7 is the place to be with hundreds of Kampala night revellers making it a habit to attend this famous event that is reputed to be the very best in town!
