KAMPALA.

The Health minister, Dr Jane Aceng, has eulogised Dr Isaac Ezati, the former director of planning and development at the Ministry of Health as a professional who was committed to his work.
Dr Ezati succumbed to lung cancer on Friday at the Uganda Cancer Institute where he had been receiving treatment upon his return from India.
Dr Aceng said the fallen surgeon and former deputy director of Mulago hospital was a committed health professional until he retired to join politics.
“He was determined to work and has supervised many students, including myself,” Dr Aceng said.

“In 1991 to 1993, when I was doing my internship in Lacor hospital, Dr Ezati was my supervisor,” she added.
Before addressing a press conference on Friday, the minister called for a moment of silence to honour the deceased doctor.
“When I was doing my first degree, Dr Ezati was already doing his master’s degree,” Dr Aceng said.
He is survived by a widow, Dr Betty Ezati, who is the Dean of Makerere University School of Education, and three children.

Mr Patrick Ezaga, the chairman organising committee for the send off of Dr Ezati (pictured right), said a funeral service will be organised at Okuvu Church in Mbuya in Kampala on Sunday (today) at 4pm and later a vigil at his home in Seeta, Mukono District. “The main funeral service will be held at St Francis Chapel Makerere University on Monday at 9am, thereafter the body and family members will leave for Maracha District at 1pm,” Mr Ezaga said.
Burial takes place on Tuesday at his ancestral home in Maracha, beginning with service at 9am.
