Dr Isaac Ezati, the former Director of Health Services planning and Development at the Ministry of Health has died.

Dr Asuman Lukwango, the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Health told the Daily Monitor that Dr Ezati passed on this morning at around 3am at the Uganda Cancer Institute where he has been receiving treatment.

“We sent him to India for treatment early July after we realized that he was suffering from a serious illness,” Dr Lukwago said.

According to Dr Lukwago, the consultant surgeon returned from India on Saturday last week in a very weak state and was admitted at the Cancer institute, where doctors have been treating him.

“We have lost him unfortunately and the only thing we can do now is to pray for his soul,” he added.

Dr Ezati served as the deputy director of Mulago National Referral Hospital around 2010 as a government consultant. At Mulago, he was the head of the accident and emergency department.

“Everyone who has passed through Mulago has been supervised by Dr Ezati and personally he was senior to me,” Dr Lukwago said, adding that he has instructed the Human Resource Department at the Ministry to work with the family in organizing burial arrangements.

Dr Ezati retired last year from his position as Director of Health Services planning and Development to go and participate in Parliamentary elections in Maracha but did not go through.
