Kampala.
By mid-day today, the third winner of an all-expenses paid trip to the Yas Marina for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November will be known.
Pirelli and City Tyres will hold the third draw at their premises at 6th street Industrial Area, Kampala with the winner joining Sowedi Kategano and Isaac Lubega on the plane to the United Arab Emirates for a treat of their lifetime.
Picking the draw today will be former Daily Monitor journalist and now founder and owner of the Independent magazine Andrew Mwenda.
The promotion has attracted nationwide interest with Ugandans from all walks of life taking part according to the City Tyres General Manager Kumar Venkatesh. “What has actually been amazing is the number of Formula One fans in the country,” Venkatesh told SCORE.
The Pirelli Area Manager East Africa Giovanni Tolasi has already hailed the manner of the draw for its transparency, with all entrants enjoying an equal opportunity of winning. To stand a chance of winning a trip to the Yas Marina Race Track, Formula One fans have to buy four tyres of Pirelli at any City Tyres registered outlet in the country.
This year’s F1 title race has been turned into a two-horse race between teammates and rivals Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Seeing how close the gap is between the two (19 points), it is conceivable that the Abu Dhabi race – the last of the season – could be the title decider.
A total of eight winners will have been chosen by City Tyres and Pirelli at the end of the draw.
