KAMPALA. Simba might be struggling for results in the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) season but one of their players inked his name in the country’s history books yesterday.
Patrick Gonahasa produced the first hat-trick of the season as the army side defeated Express 3-1 at Wankulukuku. Gonahasa opened the scoring in the first half but Caesar Okhuti, one of the stand-out performers this season, levelled for the Red Eagles before recess.

But Express’ defence could do little in the second half second half as Gonahasa scored two others to complete his treble and feature on the scorers’ chart for the first time this season.
The win leaves Simba 14th on 11 points in 13 outings. The defeat was Express’ first at Wankuluku and second overall this season. The Eagles suffered their first season loss to Sadolin Paints last Friday and now drop to seventh on the table with 17 points.

On an interesting evening, KCCA’s unbeaten run was also ended by Bul FC at Kakindu Stadium.
The 10-time league winners had gone 11 games unbeaten, notching up eight wins and three draws. But a Milton Kaliisa header off an Umar Mukobe corner after six minutes gave Bul the lead.
KCCA assistant manager Sam Ssimbwa showed up in the dugout 25 minute after kick-off. KCCA remain top on 27 points.
