KAMPALA. Sheikh Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa has been named the new Supreme Mufti to head the Kibuli based Muslim faction.
Sheikh Ndirangwa replaces Sheikh Zubair Kayongo who passed away in April this year at Agha Khan Hospital in Tanzania.

However, Sheikh Mahmood Kibaate, who has been the acting Supreme Mufti for the last nine months has been named as Sheikh Ndirangwa’s deputy.
Sheikh Ndirangwa was elected and confirmed on Wednesday by the Council of Eminent Sheikhs (CES) at Kibuli Mosque.

The new Supreme Mufti has been serving as the District Kadhi of Kampala for almost five years. He is well known for his preaching against moral decadence in society, encouraging family bonds and reverence of God.
In March, he criticized the acts of gay people, saying they were were responsible for the prolonged droughts in the world.
Sheikh Ndirangwa has been very instrumental in the struggles to bring sanity in the Muslim community that has been tainted with management wrangles.
