Mbarara. The Mbarara businesswoman who had been missing for two weeks was on Friday found dead and her body floating on River Rwizi.
Juliet Twebaze, 48, a dealer in secondhand clothes went missing on December 12.
Her neighbour, who identified herself as Winnie, said Twebaze left her home in Kiyanja, Kamukuzi Division, on a boda boda to meet people in town who were supposed to supply her clothes. She was then driven away in a vehicle to Rubaya Sub-county in Kashari County where her kidnapers told her they would kill her.
Mbarara District Police Commander Jaffar Magyezi said after receiving the report, police swung into action, blocking all roads entering and leaving Rubaya, Bwizibwera and Kyenshema for four hours.
They searched all vehicles leaving these areas but never got the kidnappers.
The search for Twebaze went on until her body was found on River Rwizi, tied with ropes around her waist, legs and neck.
