KALUNGU.

A speeding bus belonging to Jaguar Bus Company knocked dead a motorcyclist on Kampala –Masaka highway on Thursday.
The motorcyclist, who was yet to be identified by press time, was transporting fish from Kamuwunga fishing village in Kalungu District.
The accident occurred at Kamuwunga, Lwera in Kalungu District.
The bus was travelling from Kampala to Mbarara.

How it happened
According to eyewitnesses, the accident could have been caused by the motorcyclist who tried to cross the road without looking at either side of the road.
Residents, however, have asked the government to put humps at various black spots along the Kampala-Masaka highway if the accidents along the busy road are to be reduced.
Southern regional police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi confirmed the accident, saying police have not yet identified the deceased because he did not have any identification document.
Mr Ssenkumbi said police have towed the bus that to Lukaya Police Station as they hunt for the driver, who disappeared shortly after the accident.
He, however, asked road users to always be vigilant while using the road because most of the accidents that occur on major highways are caused by negligence and reckless driving.
