Man denies daughter’s body to seek revenge, flees home

OTUKE
A father in Lira Town on Friday abandoned his daughter’s corpse in “revenge” and has since fled to their home village in Otuke District.

The deceased, Eunice Amuge, who had been bedridden for a long time, died inside her rented house at Bar-Ogole Ojwina Division in Lira Municipality on Thursday. But upon receiving the bad news, the deceased’s father only identified as Okello Eyen, reportedly emptied his house at Akitenino in Adyel Division and fled.
The father headed to Otuke, his home district. Amuge had reportedly disowned her father when she was still alive.
Mr Bosco Ongom Goi, the LC3 councilor for Barogole parish in Ojwina Division, said that when he informed Mr Okello about the worsening condition of his sick daughter, he denied ever having a daughter by that name.
“He decided to run to their village in Olilim Sub-county and has since refused to answer our phone calls,” Mr Ongom told this newspaper on Friday.

“When we reported the matter, the DPC gave us a police vehicle which we used to remove the body and take to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem,” Mr Ongom, said.
The body has been preserved for at least one week.
