Mbabaali promises locals free legal services

Masaka. The Democratic Party candidate for Masaka District chairperson seat, Mr Jude Mbabaali, has promised to offer free legal services to residents in the district if he is elected.
While campaigning in various villages of Kalagala Parish in Mukungwe Sub-county on Tuesday, Mr Mbabaali said being a lawyer gives him an opportunity to serve the electorate in the field he knows better and that he was handling some cases on land wrangles free of charge.
“I have a law firm in Kampala but we have also opened for you a branch in Masaka and all the services will be free if you entrust me with the district leadership,” he said.

Past attempts
Mr Mbabaali has in the previous elections contested twice for Bukoto Central Parliamentary seat and lost to Vice President Edward Ssekandi.
He also appealed to the residents to vote for DP candidates from the local councils to parliamentary level in the three constituencies that make up Masaka District.
“It is easy to co-ordinate with fellow members of the party and foster development in our district than work with NRM members who work on orders from above,” Mr Mbabaali said.
He is contesting with NRM’s Joseph Kalungi, the incumbent district chairperson, and Mr Matia Kagugube, an NRM leaning Independent candidate.
Mr Mbabaali entered the race after the district party leadership failed to convince Dr Shanon Kakungulu, a former Masaka Municipality legislator, to stand.
